Polyethylene at raised temperature (PE-RT) has all of the benefits of standard HDPE, plus the ability to withstand high temperatures and pressure. This phenomenal product is available throughout North America via Sandale Ontario.
What are PE-RT Pipes?
Polyethylene at raised temperature (PE-RT) pipes are pre-insulated pipes that are used in plumbing and heating systems to efficiently distribute hot water. Whether used underground, in green energy systems or as a part of a low-carbon district energy system, leak-free PE-RT pipes are an essential part of a future that requires reliability and value in driving water systems.
PE-RT Expertise With Sandale
Sandale not only supplies the PE-RT piping you need, but we also design entire HDPE-engineered systems (notably for district energy and geothermal applications), provide fusion training services and do estimating for high-temperature polyethylene projects.
Our project teams’ knowledge and expertise in all aspects of hot-temperature, monolithic HDPE pipes – in mining, landfills, oil & gas, marine installations, telecommunications and municipal infrastructure – make Sandale the go-to across North America.
18 Reasons to Choose Sandale’s PE-RT Pipes for Hot Temperature Mediums
Higher permissible operating temperatures compared to standard PE4710 products | Allows continuous operation at temperatures from -49°F (-45°C) to 180°F (82°C) | Intermittent operating temperatures up to 203°F (95°C) are possible for some applications |
>20 times PE4710 requirements for stress crack resistance | Allows use of native backfill material from trench (sandless installation) for shallow, non-traffic applications | Follows the same fusion parameters as standard PE4710 pipes |
Stabilizer system for high-temperature oxidative environments with ASTM D3350 CC3 rating | Full range of pipe sizes, pressure capabilities, moulded and fabricated fittings | Safe potable water with long-term reliability |
Provides superior long-term hydrostatic strength at high temperatures | Resistance to corrosion, tuberculation, chlorine | Fast installation with fittings or fusion |
Monolithic and flexible to increase freeze-break resistance | Silent at almost every flow rate | Meets PEX tubing performance requirements |
Five times lighter than steel pipes | Low scrap value, avoiding job site theft, while 100% recyclable material | Virtually maintenance free |
Applications for Sandale’s HDPE PE-RT Pipes
Whether you’re working on a high-efficiency district energy system for a home, business, distribution system or anything in between, Sandale’s water distribution pipes can deliver results everywhere they are installed.
Hot and cold water plumbing distribution, residential and commercial
PE-RT pipes’ adaptability suits a myriad of applications with its providing reliability and longevity.
Hot Water Service Lines
PE-RT pipes are commonly used for hot water service lines, whether in Copper Tube Size (CTS) or Iron Pipe Size (IPS).
Radiant heating and cooling systems
PE-RT pipe flexibility and monolithic construction through heat fusion allow it to travel through floors, walls and ceilings.
Outdoor snow and ice melting
If you need snow and ice to melt quickly, PE-RT HDPE pipes can take the temperature fluctuations of outdoor applications.
Geothermal ground loops
PE-RT pipes are often crucial for geothermal systems, providing efficient heat exchange in vertical boreholes or horizontal layouts.
PE-RT Piping Compliance in North AmericaSandale’s PE-RT significantly expands the operation window for polyethylene (PE) pipes from -49°F (-45°C) to 180°F (82°C). It is intended for high-temperature industrial, mining, oil and gas gathering applications and complies with the following requirements:

Installation of PE-RT (Polyethylene of Raised Temperature Resistance)
Sandale’s PE-RT monolithic pipes can be installed into current or new systems using mechanical fittings, making them compatible with established plumbing infrastructure.
PE-RT can also be installed with heat fusion to ensure virtually leak-free pipes for decades to come. Heat fusion involves melting the ends of the PE-RT pipes and pressing them together, creating a strong bond. This installation process not only guarantees a secure connection but also eliminates the need for open flames, improving safety during installation.
Our pre-inulsated pipes can also be joined via mechanical joining, using couplings to compress the joints together.
